Wiped Out...

This weekend was super busy. I'm tired just remembering it! Or maybe it's because it is still, in fact, the weekend, and I haven't had time to sleep yet. haha! Anyway, it's been busy!

Yesterday morning, we had a t-ball game (of course). It was, by far, the best game we've played all season!! It was incredibly rewarding to see things finally click into place with these kids, especially after how frustrating some of our other games have been. But they are really, finally GETTING it! And I made some changes in how I was running things that also helped. Still, it was good!

As soon as we got home, I had to rush to get things ready for our cookout later that day, then get Niko and myself ready for a birthday party. Off we went! It was at the same pool where Niko took lessons last fall. And Niko did okay! He did have a moment where he just freaked out and started yelling/flailing, but I talked him through it and got him to roll over and float on his back. And from that point on, he had to use either a kickboard or a pool noodle to swim, but he was better. It's been a while since his last lesson, and this was his first time back in the pool since then! This is a major disadvantage to having such long, cold winters-- he had lots of time to forget. sigh. But he's signed up for lessons again, starting in a few weeks, so that will be good!
After we left the party, it was almost time for our guests to begin arriving for the cookout. Only, they all arrived pretty late due to a miscommunication. Doh! Still, it was fun! Gus' coworker's family (who live about a block away from us) came over for dinner, along with another coworker who is visiting from Brazil.
And then today... we had Jamie's birthday party! He is pretty much Maya's best friend. And while playing in the sprinklers was not on the original plan, the temps were in the mid 80s with humidity... in other words, it was HOT! The sprinklers and the slip-n-slide were a huge hit! I got Maya to fill a bucket from the sprinkler and dump it on my feet... THAT felt fantastic!
We were at the party much longer than planned, due to the whole sprinkler thing, and it was dinner time by the time we rolled in... But our little bunny friend was out from under the front porch! He didn't run off when the car pulled up, or even when I got out and walked closer to him. He's already so much bigger than he was just a month or so ago!
And that was our weekend, in a nutshell. It was warm and filled with the scents of sunscreen, bug spray, and barbecue. I think summer is just about here!
