August... Summer in Full Swing! A Review

So I have difficulty believing that summer is nearly over. We have spent the past month making the most of this glorious weather before fall sets in (which is incredible in its own right-- just different!). It's been so long and we have been so busy that I am relying solely on photos to remind me what we did. Thank goodness I take so many, right??

We kicked off the month with our annual camping trip to our favorite place-- Otter River! We had a wonderful time, as always!
We also went swimming with friends at our local state park.
And then, one day, I suggested a bike ride and we somehow ended up hiking the Pine Hill Trail all the way to the top of Mt. Wachusett!
And we kept cool, too, of course!
Most recently, we journeyed up north to New Hampshire. We kicked off our trip by hiking to Diana's Baths, which were really beautiful!
Later that same day, we checked into our hotel and them zipped over to Story Land for the last three hours (they have a deal where you can go in for the last three business hours and then come back the next day using the same ticket). It actually ended up raining on us a LOT, but the lines were nearly nonexistent and we had a great time! The next day wasn't bad, either! And Niko went on every ride this year, including the ones he was terrified of last year. We had so much fun together!!
This last photo is momentous because, at over 48 inches tall this year, Niko can officially ride on ANY of Story Land's rides by himself. Without an adult. And for this one, he qualified as Maya's chaperone. She was SO HAPPY that he could take her on the Whirling Whales instead of us (and to be honest, we were happy, too!). :)
After our full day at Story Land, we drove halfway home, stopping in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire for the night. The plan was to spend the next day at the beach. As it turned out, the next day (today!) was overcast with a thunderstorm in the afternoon forecast. We still enjoyed our morning at the beach! And there were hardly any other people there, which was awesome! The beach was wide and sandy, and the water was warmer than the Pacific with smaller waves. We will definitely be going back!
And that sums things up! We have had a very busy month, and school starts a week from tomorrow. Next on the agenda: haircuts for both kids! :)
