Baseball and Berries

I just had to share this quick photo from yesterday. During his usual practice time, Nikos had a game instead (to make up for one of the ones they missed due to rain). And he's started giving us a thumbs-up every time he gets to first base. It is the cutest thing ever! Love our lil' slugger!
And today, we went to pick strawberries with Caryn and her kids. The farm was fantastic! It had a huge playground, a (free!) petting zoo, a shop, tons of picnic tables in the shade, and acres and acres of wonderful things. Right now, the strawberries are at their peak, but this farm also sells u-pick blueberries, raspberries, peaches, apples, and pumpkins throughout the year. It is huge, reasonably-priced, and totally kid-friendly. I think this is one of my new favorite places!

Anyway, we were there for over three hours! We picked fruit for most of that time, though Caryn and I did most of the actual picking while the young 'uns mostly ate berries. Maya, despite eating more than anyone else, was actually the most helpful when it came to collecting the berries. I was really impressed with both kids, actually. They understood what made a strawberry "good," and would very delicately pick it and put it in our flat. We ended up with almost 8 pounds of berries, most of which are currently in my freezer (washed, sliced, and portioned). It was awesome!
At any rate, it was a great day! While the farm took up most of the day, we still managed to spend hours playing outside. I think everyone will sleep well tonight!
