Greece: Days 8 & 9

Day 8 was another beach day... we swam and stayed close to Kiveri. On an evening walk, we all went down to the very far end of the beach area (where there weren't any swimmers) and the kids got to skip stones. A nice, relaxing day!
The next morning, we were on our own. Gus' grandma was flying back from the U.S. to Athens, and his parents needed to go there, pick her up, drive her back to her house, and get her all settled-- a big task, since she hadn't lived in her home in Greece for nearly a year! They planned to spend the night, and then we would join them the following day. However, we had an entire day to fill on our own. So what did we do? Went to Nafplio, of course! :)

Our main objective was to pick up souvenirs. We needed to get some things for my friend Caryn and her family, since they took care of our house and pets while we were gone. And I wanted to get a little something for my niece and nephew. We also walked around Acronauplia, the oldest, fortified part of the city of Nafplio. There are bits and pieces of the walls all over the place. Some of the walls date from pre-classical times! Crazy! Here's one picture of the kiddos by a section of the wall.
I dragged everyone in and out of shops until the kids were prepared to mutiny. We appeased them with an early lunch at Goody's-- the Greek equivalent of McDonald's. Niko took a photo of me and Maya at our table, haha!
We went home after that. Not sure what we did the rest of the day, but I'd guess we went swimming (always a safe bet) and ate a light dinner at the apartment.
