Farm Day

Today was Farm Day in our town, a day when many of the local farms open their doors to the public and let us look around. And there are a LOT of them! We had a birthday party this morning that was actually planned around Farm Day-- the theme was "John Deere," and the kids even took a hayride down the road to the meat farm (Black Angus steers... I can personally vouch for the fact that they're delicious!). Everyone knows everyone here, including the farmers at this particular place, who are both around 30 years old (the blonde lady with the miniature horse is actually one of the farmer's moms!). Anyway, it was a lot of fun! We didn't go to any other farms today, since the party ended shortly before Farm Day did (at 2pm), and we were tired. I needed to run some errands and get the house ready for our cookout tomorrow (celebrating the new deck!). Gus needed to mow and weed-whack and do yard stuff. Once he finished, though, he wanted to go fishing. Really, he's been itching to get back out in the canoe since its maiden voyage last week. And he already plans to go out tomorrow morning with his boss, who is also coming to the cookout, but tomorrow wasn't soon enough! So he and Niko went out for a few hours and had some male bonding time. All in all, it was a good day, though I should have worn more sunscreen!

Hey Mrs. Panagakis! Its Reyna&Julianne from your last 5th grade class. We're about to finish 6th grade at Meadowbrook. Your're still our favorite teacher. We were talking about you and found this blog on the Internet. Did you ever mention us? :}
